Abstract

After independence to meet the credit needs of the farmers, credit of the borrowers for agriculture and allied activities and a reasonable component for consumption needs the government started the Kisan Credit Card Scheme in 1998.The present study is an Economic analysis of Kisan Credit Card Scheme in Karsog block of Mandi district in Himachal Pradesh for period 2021-22 based primary data. The study highlighted the change in agriculture production, dependency on informal sources, impact of the KCC on agriculture tools, social economic status and standard of living. It was found that most of the respondents used Kisan Credit Card for activities to increase production like seeds, technology improvement, land reform, cattle purchases and land reform etc. It can be concluded that Kisan Credit Card, found as a beacon of light for the upliftment of the farming community.
